What lighting installation involves
Good lighting is a layout problem before it is a product problem. A kitchen with downlights on a lazy grid throws shadows straight onto the worktop where you are standing. We set out ceiling positions against the room, the units, the island and the natural light, then agree the plan with you before cutting anything.
We work in layers. Ambient lighting for the room, task lighting over worktops, hobs and desks, and accent lighting for alcoves, shelving and media walls. Dimming and switching are planned alongside so the room has a bright setting and a quiet evening setting rather than one harsh state.
Bathrooms and wet areas are installed to the correct IP rating for each zone, with mirrors, extract fans and shaver points wired properly rather than spurred off the nearest convenient point. Kitchens get under unit LED strip with drivers positioned where they can actually be serviced later.
Outside, we install wall lanterns, floodlights, security lighting with PIR control, and canopy lighting for commercial entrances. Everything external is specified for the exposure it will face, glanded correctly, and protected by the right device at the board.

In most cases yes. We work from above where there is loft access, or use careful cut and patch where there is not. We will tell you at survey which applies to your ceiling.
We can supply, or you can buy your own. If you supply your own we will check the fittings are suitable for the location and the control gear before installation day.
Often yes, provided the lamps and drivers are dimmable and compatible with the dimmer type. We check compatibility first, because mismatched LED dimming is the most common cause of flicker.
