Consumer Unit Upgrades in Leamington Spa and Warwickshire
1010 Electrical replace consumer units across Leamington Spa and Warwickshire, usually within half a day. A new board gives every circuit its own RCBO, adds surge protection, and brings the main earthing and bonding up to current standards, which is what most solicitors, insurers and installers now ask to see before other work can be signed off.
What consumer unit upgrades involves
An old board is easy to spot. Rewireable fuses, a plastic enclosure with no RCD, or a single RCD protecting the whole property are all signs that the installation predates the current wiring regulations. The practical problem with one shared RCD is simple. When a fault trips it, the entire house goes dark, including the freezer and the boiler.
We fit metal clad consumer units with an individual RCBO on each circuit, so a fault on the kitchen ring does not take out the upstairs lighting. Type 2 surge protection is included as standard, which protects sensitive equipment such as boilers, heat pumps, EV chargers, televisions and home office kit from voltage transients.
Before the board goes in we test the existing circuits and check the main earthing conductor and protective bonding to gas and water. If something needs upgrading we will tell you before we start rather than halfway through. After the change we test every circuit again and label the board so anyone can identify a circuit at a glance.
One of our recent Leamington customers had a bathroom fitted by Wickes and could not get the installation signed off because the existing board fell short of current standards. We surveyed, quoted, booked them in within a week and completed the change in half a day, so the bathroom work stayed on programme.

Consumer Unit Upgrades, questions we are asked most
Most domestic changes are completed in half a day. Power is off for a few hours while the board is swapped and every circuit is tested. Larger boards and properties with three phase supplies take longer.
There is no law that forces you to replace a working board. However, if an EICR returns C2 codes, if you are adding an EV charger, or if another trade needs the installation signed off, an upgrade is usually the practical answer.
An RCBO combines overload protection and earth fault protection for a single circuit. It means a fault on one circuit trips only that circuit, so the rest of the house stays live.
Yes, for a few hours. We agree a start time with you, work efficiently, and restore supply circuit by circuit as testing is completed.

Straight with us and booked in within a week
We had our bathroom renovated by Wickes recently, and their installers needed the electrics signed off as compliant before they could finish the job. We had already had the electrics checked before moving in last September, specifically because we had been burned by a previous house and wanted it done properly. So we assumed it would be fine. Turns out the fuse box was not up to current standards. Ben and his team were straight with us about it and they did not mess us about. Instead of pushing our bathroom work back by weeks, they got us booked in within a week and had the whole thing sorted in half a day. They know what they are doing and they are not going to cut corners or take you for a ride. I will use them again without hesitation.
Fantastic, for both domestic and commercial
I cannot recommend 1010 Electrical highly enough. Ben was absolutely brilliant, a can do attitude, great communication, a lovely tidy job, great price. For both domestic and commercial jobs, this company is excellent.
Highly recommended for our cafe
I have had several dealings with this business over the last six months hoping to get my small cafe up to standard and in response to several issues. Nothing but professional at all times, incredibly proactive and confident enough to offer suggestions and alternatives where appropriate. Good communication and a good quality of service provided. I would highly recommend using Ben for any electrical needs at home or at your place of work.
